Great article, thanks for posting. So many good points, but one that stood out most for me is: "Food is less nutritious than it used to be"... this is concerning.

Thank you so much for your kind words!! it means more than you know, and I'm grateful you're here. ❤️

Great tips on gut health! I want to point out that my distilled, carbon-polished and remineralized water is all done at home and involves no plastic at all. The membrane used in RO applications is plastic. I don't believe forcing nature's solvent through a plastic membrane - which wastes 2 to 3 litres of water per litre of 'clean' water - makes any sense at all, economically or scientifically.

That's a fair point! there are definitely multiple ways to improve water quality, and I appreciate you sharing your setup and perspective.

What do you use for your water filtration?

Jo's avatar

I distill, carbon filter and remineralize tap water to produce a clean untouched by plastic hydration base. It is very cost-effective, involves no lugging, and doesn’t rely on plastic membranes (RO) that I don’t trust.

Things got better when I cleaned up my water supply. It is foundational.

I wish they would conduct more studies on how glyphosate affects connective tissue. I have Hypermobile EDS and am curious if it’s related. Or at least “turns on” the genes that cause it/make it worse. So many people are suffering immensely from this disease.

Dr. Ksenia Malarkey's avatar

Yes!!! Glyphosate chelates manganese, a required cofactor for collagen crosslinking enzymes, and drives oxidative stress and microbiome-mast cell dysregulation. All of that could worsen an already fragile matrix of connective tissue

Exactly. To say that having EDS is life shattering feels like an understatement. I want them held accountable!

I enjoyed this piece highlighting an often-overlooked aspect of cancer care: not all antibiotics come from a prescription pad. The role of lifestyle, nutrition, sleep, exercise, and the microbiome in supporting immune function and overall resilience is increasingly appreciated, and it’s exciting to see these connections explored. As a physician-scientist, I think it’s important for us to distinguish supportive strategies from evidence-based antimicrobial therapies. Biological plausibility and promising mechanisms are fascinating, but interventions should ultimately be judged by their ability to improve meaningful clinical outcomes. Integrative approaches are most powerful when they complement (not replace) established treatments. It’s a great reminder that health is shaped not only by what we prescribe, but also by the environments and behaviors that influence our biology every day. Thanks for sharing this insightful piece!

Couldn’t agree more!

Excellent breakdown! LC-MS/MS testing through named labs, specific probiotic targets, glycine dosing, reverse osmosis certification standards —specific enough to actually act on rather than just worry about.

Glad you found it useful! I’ve done my fair share of “just worrying about it” too ; )

Interesting perspective. The relationship between the microbiome, immune function, and long-term health outcomes is an area that continues to generate important questions for research and clinical care.

Very interesting analysis. The practical remediation part was my favorite. A lot of articles explain what’s wrong with the gut, but far fewer explain what people can actually do about it day to day. Thanks for writing about it.

My pleasure! More to come
